Earlier this week Jane decided she didn't want to go to pre-school, and I really didn't care enough to change her mind, so she didn't go. They were going on a fieldtrip that day, but it didn't seem to matter to her. Since we were all home for the afternoon, I suggested we go on a "fieldtrip" of our own. So we went for a ride on the FrontRunner to Grandma's House (it was the last day for free rides). We had rode the FrontRunner on Saturday (along with the rest of the Wasatch Front) and I thought it would be less crowded on a Wednesday afternoon. Well it sort of was. On the ride to Grandma's House the train was full, but we were all able to sit down together. The train was mostly full of retired folk and moms with their kids. The ride back home was a different story! The train was packed...even more full of people than on Saturday. We managed to squeeze on the train (literally) and a nice young guy offered me his seat (he probably felt bad for the pregnant lady who was also holding a baby, and had two other little kids in tow). The girl next to him also got up... I think we might have scared her away. These seats were right by the door, as we couldn't move further into the train because it was so crowded. I was just soooo glad to have a seat. I don't think I could have managed all three kids while standing up in the overly crowded train. At the train stop right before ours this group of people got on, and one outgoing lady asked my kids (plural) if they would give up their seat(singular, we were sharing) to this elderly gentleman with her. Note: our seats were the first ones you see as you come on the train. So they did, but there was a twentysomething girl sitting right across from us reading her book that I think would have been a more appropriate person to ask to give up their seat. Or, any of the other people sitting around us. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for teaching my kids charity and respect, etc. But I don't think this was one of those moments. Anyway we made it to our station and off the train (barely)! Oh, and on the trek back to our car the wind picked up and it started to hail something fierce which made Luke and Jane cry. I'm not sure if our fieldtrip was a success or failure. I just hope it received a passing grade... I really like taking my kids on "fieldtrips"!

Wow. Sounds like "fun". It will be something they always remember though. :)
