You've been tagged

Especially for Lacey....
The History of Stephanie and Jared

How long have you been together? first date was fall of 1997

How long did you date? too long (lol), we were married in 2000.

How old is he? 36

Who eats more? Jared, unless it involves candy, then I win.

Who said "I love you" first? Jared

Who is taller? Jared

Who sings better? Jared, hands down. I can't carry a tune to save my life.

Who is smarter? it depends on the subject, but probably Jared

Who does the laundry? it's a two person job. I manage to to get the loads of laundry in and out of the washer and dryer on laundry day, and Jared gets to fold it all.

Who does the dishes? me. Jared used to have dish duty in the evening, but I took it back. He plays with the kids and I clean up the kitchen.

Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? me

Who pays the bills? me. that's one of the (many) reasons Jared married me....my money managing skills. I don't know if that's saying much though, as his money management skills are the pits.

Who mows the lawn? Jared. Before baby #3 I would mow the lawn during the week while Jared was at work, that way we didn't have to worry about it on Saturday. I don't know if that's normal, but I really don't mind mowing the lawn. Oh well, those days are gone, at least for now.

Who cooks dinner? me. Unless it involves gravy. Jared is way better at making gravy.

Who is more stubborn? me

Who kissed who first? Jared kissed me

Who asked who out? Jared asked me out

Who proposed? Jared

Who is more sensitive? Jared

Who has more friends? it's a tie

Who has more siblings? Jared, by one

Who wears the pants in the relationship? really, I would say we both do...so I guess we both have one leg in them.

Welcome Home!

My younger brother just returned home from Iraq. We are thankful that he, and everyone else in his unit, returned home safely. Everyone is happy that he's back, especially the kids. After dinner on Sunday he was in the other room wrestling, teasing, and tormenting the kids... and the kids were loving every minute of it. Some things never change.

Wheeeee!

We enjoyed a fair amount of new snow this past week, so we took the kids sledding at a nearby park on Saturday. It was a beautiful day outside... it had warmed up a bit (it was over 30 degrees), the sky was blue, the sun was shining and there was lots and lots of snow. We had a really good time. Jared and Sam were always trying to come up with new ways to go down the hill on the tube.

Jane found it more fun to slide down the hill on her bum, rather than on a sled. Except, she couldn't make it back up the hill by herself.

And for Luke, well, he tolerated the sledding fun as long as possible. Luke kept trying to escape between the guard rail and snow to the road right behind us. Needless to say, Luke and I ended up in the car waiting for the rest of them to finish their fun. Luke and I went home, and Jared drove the kids back to the park...they wanted to play on the snow covered playground.

It really was a good day!!! We got some stuff done around the house in the morning, the kids were happy and got along with each other, and we had fun sledding at the park. It was just a nice, simple, mellow and happy day. WoooHoooo...finally!

I'm a mom, not a princess

Jane came home with a little extra something from Grandma's house last night... a pretend Cinderella princess camera. The camera does not take pictures, but when you push the button that would normally take a picture, Cinderella says different phrases. One of the phrases is, "You're as pretty as a princess". As Jane was taking my picture this morning, the camera told me "You're as pretty as a princess", and this is the conversation that followed:

Mom: Am I as pretty as a princess ?!?!?
Jane: Yeah............ only not so cute.
pause as Jane is still thinking about the question
Jane: You are a mom, not a princess so you are just a little bit cute.

Darn that Cinderella.

New Year's Resolution

The time has come.... I have resolved to finally start a blog of my own. I threatened to create a blog all summer, but never did. So, let's hope this New Year's resolution isn't doomed from the start!
