I took a swim class earlier this spring so I could actually learn to swim which was lots of fun and it kind of started the whole triathlon training. So 12 weeks ago we found this triathlon, started an 11-week training schedule we found on line, and the rest is history. I guess all that training and dragging our butts out of bed early each morning paid off!
The morning of the race was, thankfully, very cool. The weather started out a little too cold and wet, but by the time the race started the weather was perfect. We arrived in plenty of time to the race (thanks to Lacey and her complex about being on time). We got our timing chips, and our bodies marked. We were also able to get prime spots in the transition area.
The run was first. I was slower than I wanted to be. Oh well. Next came the bike ride which was faster that I had planned on. It was lots of fun! Finally, came the swim. The swim is what is is. Definitely not my strongest area, but I was faster than I had planned on...and I did it without drowning! All in all, the whole event was lot of fun!! It was a great day and I had a fun friend to share it all with. Jared and our four peeps were there cheering my on. It was a great day and awesome experience. Here are some photos of the day:

fiddling with my ipod at the start of the run - can't run without music

Way to go!!! I am glad you enjoyed the experience enough you want to do it again. Hopefully with your poor friend that missed out this time.
Awesome Job! I don't swim, so I'm with you on the whole drowning thing. :) I actually thought the swimming part you went to a lake or something, I didn't know it was held at a pool. Maybe each Triathlon is different. Way to go!
Congrats, I am totally impressed!
You guys are awesome! I can definately say that is something I wouldn't want to try. I would have drowned for sure. Congrats!
So proud of you! Totally inspired!
